Who I Am

Hi! I am Susie Schade-Brewer (pronounced Shady like a tree).  I am a rural Midwest gal, born and raised, and currently the owner and curator of 3 Etsy shops, and this blog all about us country girls - our lives, our struggles, our passions and our families.

In 2008, I wrote a novel that took 6 months to write, but another 2 years to edit for publication.  Since I was a girl, I wanted to write, especially historical fiction.  It took a while, but eventually I did get around to it. In the meantime, I wrote some short stories that won awards, wrote some articles that appeared in Grit plus some other good magazines.

The book project happened at a very traumatic time in my life when "escaping my own world" for another's was highly advantageous to my sanity.  The transformation was wonderful, as during the process, I once again found "me."  I wasn't sure at what point "me" became lost, but I truly advocate other women to find their real person again.

Rural Woman Enterprises (that's just me) was founded in 2009. I opened my first Etsy shop in 2011, called Save The Wild Horse Creations.  Everybody thought that was a weird name for a store, but I hoped it would bring attention to the plight and suffering of America's wild horses as that is one of my pet concerns.

Much has been said and published on the subject of the wild horses, by proponents and opponents of the cause.  I take only one stand ... that no horse should not be caught in the middle of a political issue and end up suffering, or the wild herds becoming extinct.

My second shop Country Chic Shoppe came 2 years later, and it focuses mostly on country shabby chic home decor and cute (but functional) jewelry hangers. And finally, the 3rd shop KnobSnobbery, custom-made, themed knobs using decoupage.

I love creating pretty things with my hands, and I hope I can share the things I have learned about design in crafts and in jewelry. {I hope I have learned a few things along the way! LOL!}  Do you love working with your hands?  I am excited to learn from you!

I am so pleased that I have received some wonderful testimonials
from happy customer(Can I brag just a little?).

Located in Adrian Missouri (USA).  Thanks for stopping by!

What I Do

Country Shabby Chic

The style I most prominently feature in what I design - from jewelry & jewelry organizers to home decor, often takes on a Country Shabby personality. Shabby Chic mimics the appearance of what is "time-worn" and "aged", a nostalgic look for interior design.  Country Chic incorporates the look and personality of the 'country', both in fashion and in home furnishings.  Combine them in design, and it is a pretty neat look. country chic, shabby chic, bedroom furniture, blue,
